Simplicity 1070 Moto Jacket - Pattern Review

I love a moto jacket, and bought Simplicity 1070 as soon as I saw it. It's described as:
Misses' knit sportswear pattern features a ponte moto style jacket with leather or faux leather front panel, long sleeve top in hip or cropped length, and slim skirt and pants.

I started with the jacket.  I used a really nice heavyweight black ponte and a black vegan stretch pleather, both from Califabrics.com.
I cut a size 12  - full disclosure: this is a gift for my sister. She is taller and bustier than I am, so it is not only a gift but a way to check the fit before I make one for myself, haha! Generous or evil, or both?
I started this one afternoon and surprisingly had most of it sewn in a few hours! There are a lot of pattern pieces but the sewing is straightforward.  It took more time to finish the bottom facing and slip stitch it in place than it did to sew the main body of the jacket. The instructions were fine. I used a combo of my machine and my serger, because of the pleather.  And I omitted the pockets - because I somehow forgot to cut them out and decided to just forge ahead. It's not really a heavyweight outdoorsy jacket that needs pockets anyway.

The shoulder yoke detail

And the back shoulder yoke

It is too big on me but should fit my sister fine. Good to know....I'll size down to at least a 10, maybe an 8, and I'll probably shorten the front pieces a bit.

The back length was actually perfect! I overexposed these a bit so the design lines would show up a little more.

D-ring closure

I don't know that I would interface the front facing again either...the front and the facing are both interfaced and I think its maybe a bit too stiff.

The jacket worn open

Ponte lining, worn open

Overall I really love the pattern, and will absolutely make myself one. I think its great if you like a moto jacket look but are maybe less experienced - its a very simple version, even the closure is easy! Love it. (She'll probably love it too.....)
